Why I stopped trying to fit into any box
May 22, 2024
This is for all my lovelies, who often feel like the odd ones out:
I stopped trying to fit into any box.
Here’s why:
I have never fit into any box.
I was never ‚cool‘ enough for the big groups at school.
I was never ‚Gothic‘ enough for the alternative scene.
I was never ‚commercial‘ or ’skinny’ enough for the modeling industry.
I was never ‚important‘ or ‚fame-hungry’ enough for the fashion industry.
I was never ‚bendy‘ enough for the advanced Yoga teachers.
I was never ‚love & light‘ enough for the spiritual teachers.
And I will never be.
And I’m totally OK with it.
In the past, to a degree, I surely tried to fit in because all we want as human beings is to belong and to be accepted. I wanted to find my tribe. The people who ‚get me‘.
We all do.
But if that doesn’t happen, we usually try to blame ourselves, thinking that there must be something wrong with us.
But quite the opposite is the case.
I’ve learned in the past that trying to fit in any box will ultimately prevent you from living life to its fullest or doing your own thing.
We won’t ever forge a new path if we follow in the footsteps of others.
Especially if you’ve always felt ‚different‘ from others or if it’s in your nature to make unusual choices, it is almost physically painful to try being someone you’re not.
It’s not in our nature to be like everyone else.
I promise you, there is a tribe out there for everyone.
Let’s start one together.
There is a place for all the unique, quirky, special, and out-of-the-norm people out there.
We just need to really own our truth and be proud of who we are.
I celebrate each and every single one of you for stepping forward and celebrating your uniqueness.
Are you with me?
With Love,
Elaine Valerie
